Labor Day in Napa

Emily and I just spent a very peaceful and relaxing long weekend in Napa. We were lucky enough to be able to stay at the Grey family’s condo right on the golf course at Silverado. It was only about an hour and a half away from San Fran, but it felt like a whole different world. The weather was perfect the whole weekend and we were able to fire up the grill (a Labor Day necessity) and eat all of our meals outside. We managed to avoid the typical Napa wine-tour; in fact, we didn’t visit any wineries the whole time we were there.
I also managed to fit in a couple bike rides while we were in Napa as part of my training for my upcoming tris (I am doing the Sentinel Olympic Tri in Santa Cruz and then the Granite Bay Sprint Tri the next week). I rode on the Silverado Trail, and I would highly recommmend it to anyone looking for a good bike route in the Napa valley. It is pretty ideal for biking – the pavement is smooth, there is a wide bike lane, it is relatively flat, and it goes on for miles and miles with no stopping at all.
